About

My Name is Frank or "The Barbarian Monk"

Wild Horse Ranch is a farm located about 46 miles Northeast of Elko Nevada located on the Devils Gate Desert.

This years goal is to grow the following crops and have some bees.  We recently received our Producers Permit from the state of Nevada Department of Ag. for the following items.

  • Varies Tomatoes
  • Summer Squash
  • Winter Squash
  • Varies Radish
  • Varies Onions
  • Cucumbers
  • Green Beans
  • Varies Potatoes
  • Flowers

Given our farm is located in USDA Region 5B I don't expect to plant anything until the third week of May with expected frost in Mid June.

We may also add a apple tree this year to the farm and as noted.. for sure some honey bees.  The honey will not be sold given no permit to sell.

If you are interested in helping out please join our list of volunteers.  Many have helped in the past and most return for seconds.

I look forward to hearing from you with any questions otherwise see you at the Elko Farmers Market

Welcome to the Site and my life

Most of my life i have been known as a motorcycle photographer or climber or ultra runner but recently upon retirement found myself in the middle of the Nevada Desert trying to do some farming and gravel riding on my bike.

Very tough and frustrating work but the views and silence are epic. I did my best in life to be all over the place, living in vans, surfing, rock climbing or ultra running. But this farming stuff is a challenge. Of course i am doing this in the middle of the Northeastern Nevada Desert at 6,200 feet.

You want to know more or see some pics let me know. Send a contact request or email me. If you want to see the old motorcycle work google "Frank Bott Motorcycle Photographer" or visit https://www.facebook.com/frankjbott/.

Do well and enjoy. Cows by the way are the fun part. Bad boys but fun.
